Zepcid 20mg Capsule contains the active ingredient Omeprazole, which is a type of medicine known as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It is commonly used to treat conditions where there is too much acid in the stomach, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach makes, providing relief from symptoms like heartburn and indigestion. Scientifically, Omeprazole is a selective and irreversible proton pump inhibitor. It binds to the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system on the gastric parietal cell surface, inhibiting the final step of acid production and thereby decreasing gastric acidity.
